Chapter 9: Announcing 2022 Vineyard Partners

Greetings, Grape Culture Society.

Too much time has passed in our communications, we have had our noses to the grindstone wrapping up construction and getting ready for bottling season, which is going to roll right into an early harvest.  Things are looking great in the vineyard. We are experiencing veraison up and down the valley, with our Upvalley Floor partners furthest along.

Our 2022 Growing Partners are locked in and we couldn’t be more excited to get into harvest season.

Jonquil Vineyard Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc - We found a new partner in the eastern hills of the Napa Valley.  Farmed by the Nords, who we are working with in Oakville as well.  New GC Blanc Material and we couldn’t be more excited.

Sugarloaf Mountain Napa Valley Cabernet Franc - Grown in the cooler, southeast corner of Napa Valley, the Cabernet Franc is grown mid-slope in Basalt soils.  We are amongst Napa legends like Titus, Beven, Venge and many more in arguably the best place in Napa to grow Franc.

Nemerever Vineyard Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon - Clone 30 farmed by Pina Vineyard Management, one of the Valley’s most iconic growers.  Located on Oakville cross with neighbors in proximity that helped put Oakville on the map.

Oakview Vineyard Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon - We source two clones of Cabernet Sauvignon and a little Petit Verdot from this incredible vineyard located in the heart of Oakville.  Oakview is part of our new vineyard designate program.

Nosotros Vineyard Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon - On a sundrenched hillside sitting at 1350’ above sea level, we launched this program in 2021 and it is a special site.  Just above Betty O’Shaughnessy’s property and farmed by Napa legend Mario Bazan.

White Cottage Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon - Clone 4 Cabernet at nearly 1800’ above sea level on Howell Mountain.  ‘LIFTED’ is moving a bit north from Atlas to Howell!

Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III - Our flagship offering, GIII lives up to the reputation in every way imaginable.  Our 2019 inaugural offering is being released in September to our mailing list.

As winemakers we are only as good as our materials.  In my humble opinion, I believe we have procured a lineup that represents some of Napa Valley’s most interesting locales.  While I am still in the “happy to be here” phase of moving and uprooting my family, looking at this list has me feeling pretty well rooted.

There may be another vineyard partnership announcement before harvest - fingers crossed!
